We have all been grieved to hear of more and more unmarked graves discovered at former residential schools across Canada. At Good News Chapel we are grieved but not shocked as many that attend our church have shared with us their personal heartbreaking stories of growing up in residential schools. As many of us know, we as a church have been handing out school supplies and shoes to children in need for the past several years. What started as a North Central Regina project has branched out to the reserves the past two years. Last year we were able to arrange for supplies to go to the Muscowpetung Education Centre on Muscowpetung First Nation. It felt important for us as a church to support Indigenous schools that teach and celebrate their own culture and language. And this year, it feels even more important. Will you help? Feel free to share the poster below. Any donations of school supplies, shoes or financial gifts towards this project would make a huge difference!
We’ve all been asking ourselves lately how can we support our Indigenous friends and neighbours? Is there anything practical we can do? Shoes and school supplies are just one small step that we can take and we hope that you will join us in this venture.
