History of Good News Chapel
Good News Chapel was founded in March 2007 as a ministry of Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The chapel was initially established to provide spiritual care and support for residents of the men's and women's life-change programs at Souls Harbour. During this time, it also became a place of refuge for those in need of nourishment, offering a potluck meal after each Sunday service when local soup kitchens were closed.
In June 2010, Ken and Michelle Porter moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to begin a new chapter with Souls Harbour Rescue Mission. Following their departure, Robert Buck was appointed senior chaplain and served as the church's pastor until March 2011. In April 2011, Murray Hack joined as a chaplain and ministered alongside Jack Katzberg until the church became independent in December 2011.

The church's first services were held in the building once known as Sacred Heart Church, located at 1380 Elphinstone Street. Souls Harbour Rescue Mission purchased the building, and chaplains from the mission, including Ken Porter as Senior Chaplain and Jack Katzberg as chaplain, served as the church's leadership.

In May 2016, after the departure of Jack and Paula Katzberg, Murray Hack was appointed as the full-time pastor. Under his leadership, the church continued to grow and thrive, including the hiring of Regan Bradley as an associate pastor in January 2019. Regan served until March 2020, after which the church focused on its expanding outreach efforts.
In April 2022, Aaron transitioned to full-time ministry with Good News Ambassadors, focusing on projects like Bibles for Muslims. In October 2022, Pastor Murray Hack joined Northern Canada Evangelical Mission (NCEM), which further enhanced Good News Chapel's ability to minister to First Nations communities in Regina and Muskowekwan.
A major milestone occurred on January 21, 2023, when Good News Chapel held its first service on Muskowekwan First Nation, with ongoing weekly services every Saturday at 2 pm. The church has approval from Chief & Council to use the Band Hall for services, and it continues to partner with Valley Alliance and Yorkton Alliance to plant a church on Muskowekwan First Nation, helping spread the gospel and serve the local community.
